This hot chocolate recipe couldn’t be easier! It only takes about 3 minutes to make and you can use your favorite chocolate candy bar to flavor it.
I am so thrilled to get to partner with Nestle Crunch to bring you one of the recipes our family loves! Keep reading for the easiest and yummiest hot cocoa around!
What do you do with all of that candy that is packed into your stocking on Christmas morning? Well, Candy Bar Hot Chocolate of course! I don’t really feel like I buy that much candy but somehow between each holiday, party, school, and event, we always have a basket in the pantry that is overflowing with various chocolates and sweet confections. I have been coming up with all sorts of creative ways to use it, like stuffing it in cookies, but this may be our all time favorite way!
There is something about hot cocoa that just soothes the soul and when it only takes 3 ingredients, 3 minutes, and uses up all the extra candy around the house, you better believe we will be soothing our soul a lot over here!
This recipe is not only easy but perfect for kids to get involved with and help make. An older child would have no problem even making the whole thing themselves! Our stockings will be stuffed with Nestle Crunch, one of our favorites, this year. They have several different varieties all featuring the characters from the Peanuts gang. Since one of our Christmas traditions is going to see a movie together as a family during the holidays the kids will be obsessed with everything Snoopy and Charlie Brown for at least the next six months.
To make the recipe, first gather up your ingredients. For each cup of hot chocolate you want to make, you will need 8 ounces of milk and 1 ounce of Nestle Crunch candy. Put the milk into a microwave safe mug and microwave for about 1 minute (time may vary depending on power of microwave) or until the milk is very warm to the touch. Carefully remove the mug from the microwave using a hot pad and then place the one ounce of chocolate into the milk. Slowly stir until the chocolate is melted and completely combined into the milk. Top with marshmallows and any other toppings that suit your fancy and enjoy!
This recipe is perfect for both a chocolate bar or the smaller chocolate pieces you get during Halloween and Christmas. The Nestle Crunch bars are X oz so you can use X of them to get one ounce in your cup. I like to break it up in smaller pieces to make it melt more quickly. We also used the bell shaped Nestle Crunch candies and the mini bars in our cocoa. These don’t have a measurement on the individual pieces but I calculated them to be about .25-.33 of an ounce each. So you can use three or four of these for each cup of hot chocolate you want to make. We like things pretty chocolatey around here so I usually just play it safe with 4. Also, if you add four and decide you need EVEN MORE chocolate goodness, there is no hard and fast rule saying you can’t. Go ahead and add a little more. I am sure your tummy will thank you!
One of the things I think you will absolutely love about this recipe is that when the Nestle Crunch bar melts, all of the little crispies float up to the top of the hot chocolate and you are left with this amazing smooth creamy blend of hot chocolate, soft and chewy marshmallow, and then the sweet crunch of the little crispies. It is a simple recipe but I think you will agree, the textures of it all together are pretty amazing!
I hope that this easy recipe keeps you warm on a cold day soon!
