The only way to describe this dessert is sinful. This S’mores Parfait is quick and easy to make. It only has a few ingredients and it is no bake. It is even on the lighter side of the dessert category. But when you put that spoonful of this wonderful dessert in your mouth the word that comes to mind is just sinful! It is rich and creamy with many wonderful textures to tantalize your taste buds. This is perfect for any chocolate lover and would be a great Valentine’s Day dessert!
I was inspired to make this as a part of the Lady Behind the Curtain Dessert Challenge. Every month Sheryl challenges a group of foodies to create a dessert with her theme ingredients. I looove to cook and the challenge of creating a recipe with a couple of ingredients is just plain fun to me. So I look forward to doing this each month. You can see my last challenge, Crock Pot Baked Pears here.
This month our challenge ingredients were chocolate pudding (or cocoa) and marshmallows. I almost instantly knew what I wanted to create once I read the challenge and created this little S’mores Parfait for you. I love it when things are easy yet don’t sacrifice anything in taste. This is one of those! I was in heaven when I finally sat down to eat it!
Here is the skinny on how to put together this simple and sinful S’mores Parfait Dessert:
First whip up your pudding. I used Jello Fat Free Sugar Free instant pudding to make it lighter, since we did just start a new year and all. It only takes about 5 minutes for this to set so you don’t have to do much preplanning.
Next prepare your ganache. If you have never made ganache, it sounds fancy but is super simple (and really, really delicious.) All you do is take a microwavable bowl and pour about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and about 1/4 cup heavy cream in. Then heat it in the microwave for 1.5-2.5 minutes stirring every 30 seconds until all of the chocolate is melted and combined with the cream. It makes a really smooth dark chocolate that is probably the sin in this sinful dessert haha!
Now it is just layering. I used a smaller stemless wine glass to make my parfait. Use a spoon to drop in some pudding and smooth. Then add a layer of graham cracker crumbs, then a layer of ganache, and lastly marshmallows. Repeat for a second layer and then drizzle some ganache on top. Simple, beautiful, and impressive! A win all the way around.
I recommend eating this fresh or at room temperature over the net hour or so. If you refrigerate this dessert, the ganache becomes very firm and the graham cracker crumbs loose their crunch. To get the most out of all the lovely textures in this dessert you should eat it immediately. Of course, that wasn’t a problem for me, hehe. I think this will be our special treat for Valentine’s Day this year. Do you have special plans for Valentine’s Day? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
