Make a Christmas breakfast is equally easy, delicious, and adorable! These Cinnamon Roll Santa’s are quick to make and the kids will love helping to make them and eat them.
We have certainly been on a kick with the super cute Christmas Breakfasts around here. We have made Cinnamon Roll Christmas Trees, Reindeer, and Snowmen. Each are super quick, easy, and fun. And if you want a more traditional breakfast to go along with it, try out my favorite breakfast casserole! These are also especially good on Christmas Eve for a fun activity to do with the family.
Today though might be my favorite cinnamon roll creation yet! You just can’t help but smile when you see these little Santa Bellies. And out of everything my daughter really loved these little guys the best. I love that that they are so easy to make. And when I say easy I mean EASY!
All of my cinnamon roll creations are pretty simple, but this one definitely takes the cake. To make the cinnamon roll Santas, you don’t even have to re-form the roll, just bake as is and decorate!
HOW TO MAKE CINNAMON ROLL SANTAS
One of the things that makes this Cinnamon Roll Santas so awesome is that it really is just so, so easy to make. All you need are a few things:
- A package of classic Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. I use the regular ones but the grands would work too but be much bigger in scale.
- Red food coloring- I just use the kind you get at the grocery store that comes in the 4 primary colors.
- 24 white round sprinkles– I grabbed these at Walmart in the Christmas section, but you should be able to find some sort of round white sprinkles at any grocery store.
- 4 pieces of black licorice– I used the classic Twizzlers. You will be able to get 2 belts out of each piece so you really only need a couple.
- 4 yellow starbursts– You should be able to get this out of a regular sized pack of Starbursts, but I actually bought the bigger bag and only had 6 yellows in the whole bag which was surprising. Cutting the Starburst belt buckle is the hardest part of this project. If you don’t want to take the extra step to cut it from a Starburst, you can get gummy Life Savers to use as belt buckles instead. I was going to use these but my husband informed me they didn’t look as authentic (HA!) so I went ahead and cut the buckle from the starburst instead.
Instructions
- First, bake the cinnamon rolls per the package instructions. While they are cooking, stir the food coloring into the frosting from the cinnamon roll package. I used about 8 drops to get it nice and red, but it could vary based on brand.
- Next prep the candy by cutting the licorice to the length of the cinnamon rolls. You can trim it up later if needed. To make the belt buckle, unwrap 4 Starbursts. Cut them in half width-wise so that you now have two, thinner equal squares. Then use a paring knife to cut a smaller square out of the center of each.
- Once the cinnamon rolls have finished cooking, you can start to make them hot or let them cool so the icing won’t run down the sides. Frost each cinnamon roll with 1/8th of the frosting. Then place the trimmed licorice across the middle of the cinnamon roll and the starburst on top of the twizzler as the belt buckle. Finish by placing three buttons above the belt buckle.
- Enjoy!
