Make Pretty Watercolor Rainbow Tassels
Materials you need:
- Coffee filters
- Water-base Markers (Crayola works great)
- Spray bottle
- Scissors
- Tape
- String
How to make your own Rainbow Tassels
- First make the rainbow paper. You can find a full tutorial to make watercolor art on my blog here. The quick run down: color coffee filters with markers, spray the colored filters with water until the ink bleeds together, let dry.
- To make the tassels, fold each dry coffee filter individually into a small triangle as shown in the image below. First fold in half, then fold in half again, then fold in ⅓ in one direction, flip over and fold the other ⅓.
- Cut the triangle into strips from the widest end of the triangle towards the point, but do not cut all the way through.
- Pinch the point of your tassel and wrap tape around the end to hold the entire tassel in place.
- To use the tassel to decorate, you can either tie string around the end or use a small hole punch.
You can make these tassels in any color you’d like. You can color the coffee filters in multiple colors, or just use a single color, it’s up to you!
If you’d like to create garland, I have a free printable rainbow garland page you can use with your new tassels. Download it and print for free!
