This Skinny Strawberry Limeade is a simple and delicious drink that is perfect for sipping by the pool this summer!
I love fun drinks! I mean who doesn’t? Especially in the summer when it is hot and your sitting by the pool. You need something yummy, clod and fruity in your hand right? It is practically a requirement! I am so past the point in life though, that I can just consume endless calories though a straw. Ten years and two kids ago, maybe, but now I try to make lower calorie decisions. It is really easy to do when you don’t even have to sacrifice taste!
This is a lighter version of one of my all time favorite drinks! The Strawberry Limeade! It brings me back to hot Texas summers sitting at Sonic drive in with my friends. There are few tastes that can cross my tongue that bring back more happy summer memories than a strawberry limeade!
This Skinny Strawberry Limeade is super simple to make and even better than my memories! Here is the how to:
First I picked up a two liter bottle of 7 Up 10 at Vons. This stuff is FAB! All of the taste with only 10 calories per serving. And better yet they even have a coupon you can grab on their Just For U website here for a free 2L of any flavor of the TEN calorie products (7UP Ten, Sunkist Ten, A&W Ten, Canada Dry Ten). Offer available at any Safeway brand store from 5/12 – 5/19, while supplies last! Now you’re talking! The only thing better than low calorie might be FREE low calorie haha!
I also grabbed a pint of fresh strawberries and a lime. I used 6-7 medium strawberries to make 4 servings of the drink. Cut off the tops and use either a hand blender, a food chopper or a food processor to puree them. This allows you to get that pure strawberry taste without all the added sugar of using strawberry syrup.
Measure out 32 oz, or around 4 cups of the 7 Up 10 and then stir in the strawberry puree. Be careful because the strawberry will make the 7 up foam up! So use a container bigger than you need and stir gently and carefully. Next chop your lime in half and squeeze the juice into the mixture and give it one final stir. TIP: If your lime is hard, you can get the juices flowing by microwaving it for a few seconds and then rolling it on the counter!
I prefer to serve my skinny strawberry limeade over crushed ice, but any ice will do! Put it in a pretty cup and garnish with a slice of lime and a strawberry and you will feel like you have a hotel worthy fancy drink, and you and I will know that you can indulge as much as you like with this low calorie treat!
