Dessert Pizza is simple to make and a fun summer activity for you and the kids to do together!
School is out, the kids are home and if you are like me some days you are at your wits end! Don’t get me wrong I love having the munchkins around but boredom sets in quickly if you don’t have a few tricks up your sleeve. I’ve got lots of simple and fun projects planned for the summer and one of them was this easy dessert pizza.
Nothing holds kids’ attention better than cookies and candy. When I told the kids that we were going to make pizza they were so excited, when I told them it was going to be a dessert pizza, made out of cookies and candy they were ecstatic. It was so much fun and so easy to do. I used pre-made sugar cookie dough and rolled it out into big cookie, about the size of a kid-sized pizza. Then I baked them according to the instructions on the package. When they were done and they had cooled I set up the table with little bowls of different toppings, M&Ms, Reese’s Cups, sprinkles…whatever you have on hand works. I made a simple buttercream frosting for the “sauce” but to keep it simple you can just use a can of frosting from the store. Kids aren’t really critics when it comes to frosting ;).
I spread the frosting over the top of the cookies and then let the kids go to work. They had so much fun picking out their topping and making their dessert creations. More than a few M&Ms went straight into their grinning mouths :). When they were done they immediately grabbed their cookies and took a big bite!
It was so easy to do and broke up the day with a special treat. Add this to your list of things to do with the kids this summer, I promise you won’t be disappointed and the kids will think you’re the coolest ;)!
