Since you heard us talk all last week about back to school, we wanted to give you a special treat today! We have our good friend Wanda from Recreate and Decorate here to share some of her home decorating secrets with you. I am a regular follower of her blog and she never ceases to amaze me with the way she brings together textures, patterns, and accessories to make a space truly perfect! After you are done reading this post you definitely need to hop over to her blog and check her decorating tips out!
Hi, I’m Wanda and I blog about DIY home decor over at Recreate and Decorate. I was so excited when the The Pinning Mama asked me to guest blog today and so glad to be here! They are 2 very talented ladies and I just love their blog. The Pinning Mama and I have become BFF’s, blogging friends forever. I like to tease them about all of the yummy recipes they like to share, how in the world do I stick to a diet when they are forever tempting me with recipes like their buttercream icing!
Let me start off by saying I am addicted to decorating. I am always changing things around in my home and lately I have been re-decorating my tween daughter’s surfing bedroom and wanted to share this cute DIY art that we made. I know ya’ll love cute crafts and other DIY projects so I thought this one would be perfect.
If you are into today’s trends, you see “Keep Calm” posters everywhere.
We saw a “Keep Calm and Surf on” poster in the store and my daughter just had to have one. Instead of buying it, we decided make our own and customize it to match her bedroom.
supplies needed:
- picture frame
- wrapping paper
- scissors
- wooden letters or cutouts
- glue
- craft paint
What’s so great about this project is that it’s super easy and super quick. I’m sure you are as busy being a mom as I am, so quick and easy is a must.
Directions
- cut your wrapping paper to cover the backing of your picture frame.
- Wrap the backing of the picture frame with your wrapping paper. Wrap it like you would a present.
- Decide what your Keep Calm saying will be.
- Paint your wooden letters the color of you choice.
- Glue the letters or cut outs onto the background.
- Frame it as you would a photo but you are not using the glass.
- Your customized Keep Calm art is ready to hang!
This is a project that you can be very creative with and the possibilites are endless. Gift wrapping paper comes in so many colors and patterns today, which makes projects like this so much fun.
Customizing your home accessories to coordinate with your home decor is a great way to give your home a unified look.
If you have another quote that you like to use, this can be an easy way to add it to your home.
I like to use gift wrapping paper with my projects. I have used it in my daughter’s bedroom to add to the back of a bookcase and to a bulletin board.
I hope you have enjoyed this customized Keep Calm art.
Thank you to the Pinning Mama for letting me hang out with all of you today.
