True statement: My Easy XOXO Valentine’s Day Plate is the easiest craft ever!
This is my craft for all of you out there that claim you are not crafty. It is quick. Is easy. And your end result is something really cute you will actually enjoy using. If you can write at least two letters you can do this! And for my friends that do love to craft, great news… you can make this in like 2 minutes (plus curing time!) I love that!
You list of tools is short:
- A glass or ceremic plate {I got mine at the dollar store!}
- DecoArt Glass Paint markers in black and red { You can buy these at craft stores or on Amazon}
- An oven
First shake up your pens and use the black pen to start writing xoxo around the edge of the plate . I know I know… I hate my hanwriting too, but you can free hand this. Trust me. I am not one to freehand things because I am a perfectionist and my handwriting is not cute…. Not cute at all! But with x’s and o’s it really is easy, and the look we are going for here is natural. So give it a try!
I wrote each sequence of x’s and o’s leaving a space between for the heart. I eye balled everything and tried to keep the spacing as close to equal as possible. If you get toward the end and you think you need to space it more or less, no worries. You can use a paper towel and a bit of nail polish remover to wipe anything you want to redo right up and you can try again.
Once you are done with your lettering, fill in the spaces with little red hearts.
Then you will want to read the instructions for curing options. I used the dishwasher safe option on my pens {because hey, I am a mom, I need to be able to stuff things in the dishwasher!} I let the plate air dry for 8 hours then placed it in a cold oven and baked it at 375 degrees F for 40 minutes once it preheated.
This plate is perfect for a special Valentine’s Day meal, but do keep in mind that you should never eat off of any area that has the paint on it so it is perfect that this project only uses it on the edges.
I think we might use this for Valentine’s Dinner, but I also think it would look pretty fabulous in my gallery wall as a seasonal touch. What do you think? Leave me a comment on what you would do with this plate!
