Easy and Inexpensive Flower Arrangement

Do you love flowers but think they’re too expensive or too complicated to arrange? Then you are going to love this easy and inexpensive flower arrangement!

Hi, I’m Ginnie from Hello Little Home, and I have a confession to make: I love empty jars. My cabinets are full of containers that previously housed sauces, condiments, jams, etc. Instead of throwing them out, I collect them.

Now, the lack of storage in my tiny NYC apartment hasn’t allowed me to slip into hoarder territory quite yet, but I do have a small collection of interesting shapes, patterns, and sizes. These jars are perfect for storing pretty much anything.

One of my favorite ways to use these jars, however, is for displaying flowers. If you are anything like me, you love fresh flowers but don’t get to enjoy them nearly enough. They’re often expensive, and it can be intimidating to create the perfect arrangement.

That’s why I love using these jars. Just add a cute, affordable bouquet from the market, and you have an easy and inexpensive flower arrangement!

Want to create your own flower arrangement? Here’s what you’ll need:

• a cheap supermarket or corner store flower bouquet (or two)
• jars and glasses of various heights and sizes
• a pair of kitchen shears

Start by filling your jars and glasses with cool water.

Remove the leaves from the flower stems. This will make your arrangement look neater and last longer.

Gather a small bouquet in your hand and arrange the flowers so their tops form a gentle dome shape.

Hold the bouquet up against the container and use it as a guide for trimming the stems to size with the scissors. If you’re unsure where to snip, keep in mind that it’s better to cut the stems too long. You can always trim them shorter later.

Add the flowers to your container and adjust their placement, if necessary. Repeat these steps with the remaining flowers and containers.

Change the water in your jars every couple of days to extend the life of your arrangement.

Part of the fun of this flower arrangement is deciding where to place all the jars and glasses once you’ve filled them. I like to create small groupings (odd numbers work best) or run them down a long table. You can also spread the arrangements throughout your home, so that you have flowers in every room!

The other thing I love about this arrangement is how much it can vary depending on the flowers you choose. Use one color for a simple, elegant look or choose a mixed bouquet for a pop of color. I’m enjoying bright colors right now, but how cute would this look in fall with a mix of warm, autumn colors?
