You can make these Easy Sofia the First Pops in just a few steps! They are the perfect addition to a magical party and a sweet treat all the kids will love!
These days I just look at my daughter and seem to be able to see her growing right before my eyes. She is an amazing tiny person and she is at a magical age where she both holds the world in her hand and can be squashed by it in a second. She soaks up every detail around her and the things that come out of her mouth could be written straight into a prime time comedy.
It seems to be the greatest challenge some days just to find things that strike a balance for her. Things she can embrace and enjoy PLUS I can feel good about too. This girl love her “shows!” Her favorite rest time activity is relaxing into one of her favorite TV shows. Television can be a tough balance though because if she is going to spend time watching it, I want to make sure the messages she is soaking up are the ones that build her up.
Luckily, there are a few shows that make this super easy and are favorites for both her and me. Sofia the First tops the list! My daughter could watch Sofia for hours on end. What she loves is the whimsical fairytale, the fun characters and the adventures they have each time. What I love is that above all, Sofia is kind, brave, and loyal.
There is a consistent message in each episode that you can have fun and still be kind, even to those others might not choose. You should be confident in your decisions and actions. You can be brave and adventurous, but still always know the value of family. These are exactly the things I hope my daughter soaks up and holds onto tight when the world tells her otherwise.
With her love of all things Sofia, we had a fun time planning a Sofia the First party! We started with these easy Sofia the First Pops! They are a fun and creative treat that even the littlest princesses can make all by themselves. My daughter LOVES “art projects” and is always asking to make something. These treats are both a fun little dessert, but also a fun creative little craft the girls can all make at a Sofia the First Party. Serve it with fruit, cheese sticks, and even milk you can dye purple or pink with just a drop or two of food coloring for a fun themed bunch of snacks for the party.
How to Make Princess Pops
You only need a few things to get started:
- Paper Straws
- Cupcake Wrappers
- Vanilla Frosting (or any white colored frosting)
- Decorative Sugar
- Large Marshmallows (you can also sub out the marshmallows for strawberries for a healthier option)
- Small Marshmallows
These are super simple to put together. You can either make them ahead of time in just a few minutes, or use this as a fun craft or activity at your Princess Party. My daughter is only 3 and had no trouble putting these together with just a little supervision. She was so excited for her creation that she counted down the minutes until she got to eat it too! Here is how to put them together:
- Have an adult prep for the pops by clipping a small X into the middle of the cupcake wrapper skirts, and microwaving the frosting for 15-30 seconds, or until it is warm and thin.
- Push a small marshmallow about 1.5″ down one end of your paper straw.
- Push the cupcake wrapper onto the straw to rest on the small marshmallow.
- Top the Pop with a large marshmallow.
- Dip the top of the pop into the frosting and let any excess drip off.
- Dip the frosting coated marshmallow into the decorative sugar to coat the frosting.
- Place into a glass to dry.
Simple and easy but so, SO cute! My kids loved making them to prep for our party and we plan on making more as an activity at the party. Of course, we will also have lots more of our favorite Sofia the First gear! My daughter loves imaginative play and some of our favorites are her Sofia Royal Dress and the new Musical Light-Up Amulet, where she can look just like her Sofia Doll she keeps by her side. The Deluxe Friends Collection is a great way to get all of your favorite characters for hours of fun and pretend play. All of these are available conveniently at Walmart, ToysRUs, Amazon, and Target. Does your daughter love Sofia the First? What is her favorite Sofia toy? Stay tuned for more updates, photos, crafts and activities from our Sofia the First Party! I am so excited to share it all with you because we have so much fun, just starting with these Princess Pops, up our sleeves!
