From classic story books you may remember from your childhood to fresh new stories, we have put together a list of the best books for two year old boys. My little boy loved these and so I thought it would be great to share this list with you.
Two year old boys are full of energy, and most like to play rough and tumble games with dad. But quiet time is important too, and books are a great way to introduce your boy to the world around him, and a good excuse for a snuggle!
Two year olds experience some pretty big milestones, like giving up naps, moving from their crib to a big boy bed, learning how to use the potty, and even sometimes welcoming a new baby into their world.
Reading books can help your little one explore new ideas before they become a reality, which can make the transition that little bit easier.
Some of our favorite suggestions that my little guy loved will hopefully give you ideas for books your 2 year old boy will love too!
Gideon: It’s Play Time, Not Naptime! (Gossie & Friends): Olivier Dunrea – If your little one is already fighting nap time this is the perfect book to read together, because Gideon doesn’t want to take a nap either.
Ball: Mary Sullivan – Books without words give children permission to make up their own stories based on the pictures, and Ball is the perfect example. Be warned, once you bring this book into your home you’ll suddenly want to buy more copies to give as gifts to all the children you know!
Love Monster: Rachel Bright – The Love Monster lives in Cutesville but he doesn’t quite fit in so he sets out on a journey to find someone who will love him just the way he is. A wonderful story to help little ones learn not to judge anyone on their appearance.
Hide and Seek Harry at the Beach: Kenny Harrison – Harry loves to play hide and seek with his friends, but what sort of objects can he hide behind?
Tickle: Leslie Patricelli – Watch out, watch out, there’s a tickle about! Toddlers love this book all about a little boy that might just be ticklish…
Toy Boat: Loren Long, Randall de Sève – Once upon a time a little boy made a boat out of a tin can, a pencil and piece of white cloth, and then he sailed off on an adventure. This story is the perfect inspiration for some creative toy play of your own.
Dear Zoo: A Lift-the-Flap Book: Rod Campbell – In a classic you might just remember from your own childhood a little boy is sent a series of animals from the zoo… but which one does he want to keep?
Naptime with Theo and Beau: Jessica Shyba – If your little boy has a puppy for a best friend then this beautiful book is a must.
Duck & Goose Colors: Tad Hills – Duck and Goose are back in this delightful tale where your little one can explore the world of colors.
Ten Tiny Toes: Caroline Jayne Church – Adorable toddler art meets the classic rhyme: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in this book which will help your toddler learn all his body parts.

Love all of these books! My son loved “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type” and “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.” (In fact, now he is 9, and he still likes both.) I mentioned your post on my blog.
Keep up the good work!
