This one easy trick will leave your granite or hard surface countertops shining like never before. It is quick, easy, and works like a charm!
After I tried Washdrops and saw how amazingly it cleaned my kitchen I agreed to let them sponsor this post. The opinions and cleaning frenzy that followed were 100% my own.
I am about to let you in on my best secret for cleaning my kitchen, but first, I am going to start our story by telling you about a car cleaner. In the 1990’s there was a severe drought in California. These drought conditions created the need for many cities to ban wasteful or excessive water consumption. I imagine that all of the owners of those beautiful cars you see driving the roads of California were not too happy that this meant that they wouldn’t be able to wash them. But out of necessity often comes innovation, and so Washdrops was born. Washdrops is a no rinse, non-toxic, organic, non-abrasive car cleaner that allows you to clean an average car with only one small bucket of water.
I am sure you are thinking, well, that sounds really great and all, but I came because of this crazy countertop trick. Would you believe it if I told you the best kitchen cleaner I ever used was actually a car wash solution?
As I learned about Washdrops, I was told that even though it is marketed as a car cleaner, it made the most amazing cleaner for granite counter tops. I was skeptical but I was intrigued, so I had to give it a try!
One of the main reasons that Washdrops makes such a great car cleaner is that with very little cleaner and water you can clean your entire car. No need for massive amounts of water for rinsing, after you spray it on you just rub it off to a beautiful streak free shine. I looked at the directions for Washdrops, which is to add 3 capfuls (1 oz) to 1 gallon of water. After a few calculations, I decided to scale this down for the kitchen. It equated to about 1/4 capful to 1 cup of water. I just poured the Washdrops into the water, gave it a stir and poured it into a spray bottle.
At this point I was thinking, “There is absolutely NO way that tiny bit of solution is going to clean my counters any better than what I normally use, or even do anything!”
WRONG!
I sprayed it over the countertops and used a microfiber cloth to buff it off and to say I was amazed was an understatement! I could literally see a line where I had stopped cleaning on what I thought were already fairly clean countertops. I think that one of the biggest differences is that way Washdrops made the counter tops not only clean, but also made them shine!
They weren’t dull, they weren’t streaky, they were cleaned to a perfect shine… just like a car I guess! They didn’t feel greasy or waxy but just looked and felt like new.
I was so impressed I cleaned the island, then moved to the other countertops. Then I noticed how grungy the stove top was looking so I cleaned that too! Above the stove is the microwave which also needed to be cleaned so I did that. But then I turned around and saw all of the water spots all over the sink and had that cleaned in no time flat also.
At this point I was a little bit beside myself. As if streak free shiny clean kitchen wasn’t enough, I saw that despite cleaning almost my entire kitchen and every appliance, I had only used a small fraction of the bottle. Less cleaner, less harsh chemicals, and a better clean. Pretty awesome in my book!
I would have never in a million years guessed that I would be cleaning my kitchen with a car wash solution, but now I feel like it is my little secret to the best I have seen my counter tops look in a long time!
If you want to try it out for yourself on your kitchen OR your car, you can buy Washdrops on Amazon or directly from Washdrops here. And once you try it make sure to let me know if you loved it as much as me in the comments!

I have never thought of using car cleaner on granite countertops before! Right now, my kitchen has old laminate counters, but I am planning on remodeling soon. If I choose granite, I will have to remember this trick!

Does this work on regular laminate countertops as well??
Kimber says
Hi Kim, I haven’t tried it on laminate in particular, but I think it works so well, I use it almost as an all purpose cleaner on counters, my appliances etc. I bet it would work great!
